This is not yet another manual on which skimmer to choose, how to set up the lights or where to place the flow pumps. Those choices are useless until we know what we are really keeping.

From the Reef to the Tank starts from the coral: an animal, not a plant or a rock. How it is born, how it feeds, how it lives together with the algae it hosts in its tissue, how it breathes, colours itself, defends itself, builds its skeleton and why, sometimes, it dies.

Only then do we go back to the tank. Light, flow, temperature, chemistry, nutrients and bacteria not as numbers to chase, but as the environment the coral needs. To learn to read your corals and build a method of your own.
